Venezuelan Guasacaca (Avocado Salsa) Recipe

Guasacaca is a Venezuelan creamy avocado dip made with ripe avocados, cilantro, bell peppers and vinegar. The vinegar in Guasacaca gives it a more tangy flavor than guacamole.
This avocado dip has many uses in Venezuelan cuisine, from topping steaks and hamburgers, to being served with with chips, or empanadas to dip into.
Guasacaca has a creamy consistency, although chunks of avocado may be left in for added texture.
Origin & Cultural Significance
Guasacaca originated in the northern region of Venezuela; it was created as a sauce to serve with grilled meats in the 20th century. It is a popular side dish at family gatherings, barbecues, and special occasions.
Guasacaca is similar to Mexican Guacamole, which is another avocado-based dip.
Some variations of Guasacaca exist in different regions of Venezuela, for instance different herb or spice combinations may be added to adjust the flavor profile.
