5 Of The Best Things To Do In Maui, Hawaii
Maui is a stunning island in the Hawaiian archipelago that is an absolute must-see if you’re visiting Hawaii, and not just for the food (but hear us out here, the food is pretty delicious as well).
This beautiful island is perfect for surfers, snorkeling, and just those intrigued world travelers, and you just know that you’ll be getting some of the best seafood around here.
I wrote previously about my trip to Hawaii and in particular the incredible fusion in flavours in Hawaiian cuisine. I wrote up the recipe for the eponymous Hawaiian Poke Bowl and I firmly believe that Hawaii has some of the best foods in America. But of course Maui has so much more to offer than delicious seafood!
If you’ve been thinking about adding Maui to your list, but you’re not quite sure whether to book that flight, here are five of the best things to do in Maui that will convince you to get yourself there ASAP!
Party At A Luau
You know that Hawaiian hula girl you’ve got dancing on the dash of your car? Well, dreams do come true, and you can experience the real thing at a luau in Maui.
There’s a bit more to it than this, however, and it involves a big party and lots of amazing food (usually a buffet). If you want to go for an all-you-can-eat party with the locals, get yourself down to a luau!
Your hotel or friendly locals will be happy to advise you on the nearest upcoming Luau, so make sure you ask around!
Visit the Maui Brewing Company
If your love of all things hospitality extends to beverages, you’re in luck in Maui. Maui Brewing Company is Hawaii’s largest brewer, and you can get a tour around the grounds (and a pint, too). This is a great way to see how they make things in the factory, and there’s also a restaurant here that has pretty good reviews. If you want to see Maui in action, head over to the brewing company!
Snorkel Around Molokini Crater
Molokini Crater is one of the best places to snorkel if you want to include this into your trip, and it boasts some of the most stunning fish of Maui. From whale sharks to the Hawaiian octopus, scientists believe that this place was formed around 150,000 years ago, so it’s certainly worth going for a dive and seeing some of the (extensive) history that Maui has to offer.
Enjoy The Black Sand Beaches
Sure, Maui has its fair share of sandy white beaches, but it’s also home to some of the most stunning black sand beaches, too. Wai’anapanapa is one of the more popular choices, and it’s a good shout if you want to be nearby to some tasty seafood restaurants. There are some other black sand havens, too, if this is your thing and you want to avoid all of the tourist traps.
Eat at Mama’s Fish House
Mama’s Fish House is a luxurious beachside restaurant, and it should definitely be on any food lover’s bucket list. It can put you out a bit of cash to eat here, but it’s hailed as one of Maui’s best restaurants, and it’s become something of a foodie landmark across the island. It’s worth splashing out here, for some delicious food and those glorious views over the water, so check it out if you can.
So, if you’re thinking of heading to Maui, these are definitely 5 of the best things to check out. If you’re visiting from mainland USA you can book cheap flights to Maui using SkyScanner (try the search function below).
